Shot 1 analyze:
Time: this shot lasts for about 4 seconds.
Editing style: this is straight cut, using many short sequences. It is designed to clearly provide the enough information to the audience in just enough time. Therefore, the audience will not get any junk information.
Transition: the type of transition used between shots is jump-cut. As each shot goes immediately to the next shot without transition, it shows clear information to audience by putting some individual shot together to tell a story. In the scene, 4 individual shot, in teams of, a man standing in front of mirror and preparing to take off his shirt, his pants and shirt falling on the floor, he walking into the shower room and he talking shower, are put together to tell that the man is going to take shower.
Sound: in these 4 shots, there are no characters talking and music playing. Only sound effects are used, such as the sound of running water, the sound of leather belt falling on the floor and the sound of the character opening the door.
Lighting: a very normal indoor lighting is used in the scene.
Shot type: the type of shot used in this scene is closed-up. To use this kind of type of shot, the main idea is to only get the useful information, because this scene is showing very simple information: a man is going to take shower. Closed-up shot can also prevent audience getting some junk information. To make a good movie, audience is not supposed to get information that nothing to do with the movie.
Camera angle: the camera is looking straight at the character. This is indoor scene, it will be very strange to use high angle or low angle in indoor scene, particularly in small area. Straight on gives audience a very comfortable view to watch the movie.
Shot 2 analyze
Time: this shot lasts for about 7 seconds.
Editing style: this is straight cut, using many short sequences. In this scene, director does not want to show specific details about these two men fighting by considering that this is not an action movie. Each shot in this scene is long enough to tell that there two men fighting from beginning to ending.
Transition: the type of transition used between shots is jump-cut. It is related to the editing style. The director put several shot together to tell audiences that these two men are fighting. It is very clean. Because this is not an action movie, it is really unnecessary to show how they fight.
Sound: in these 4 shots, only the sound of two men fighting is used.
Lighting: a very normal indoor lighting is used in the scene.
Shot type: the type of shot used in this scene is closed-up. It is close-up these two men’s faces to show they are both struggling and fighting. If the medium shot is used here, it will be highlight the action of how they fight. But it is not what the director wants or this is not what the movie is about, it is not an action movie.
Character analysis: There are two characters. From their struggling faces and action, we can tell they are fighting and they are enemy.
Camera angle: The camera angles here are straight on and high angle. Because the two men are fighting, sometime one of two falls over. To use high angle is to catch the one who falls over in order to let the audience still can see the character.
Camera movement: the movement of the camera is tracking shot. Using this way is to catch the two fight men.
