SCENE I
I. SCENE OVERVIEW
《MEMENTO》narrative structure in the way of using double crossover, a black-and-white images are presented in order, and another is in colorful picture flashbacks. At the beginning of the film the picture form clear to fuzzy and the bullet back to the gun all of this tells us the Teddy’s death is the end of the story and the colorful part tell the story in the way of flashbacks.
II. DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS

Mise-en-scene: Lenny and Teddy in a shabby room, there are gun, photograph, camera and glass. This is an interior stage.
Colours: Colour is very clear and natural. I think the color here is very important, it means that the part with black and white, also means that memory and truth.
Sound: the sound of bullet, shout of Teddy and the sound of the camera are diagetic. The background music is non-diagetic.
Music：Background music used the color with deep sadness music. It is echo with Lenny look at the picture thinking something. The music tells us the ending thought-provoking and Lenny’s complex mood, exciting and try to remember something.
Dialogue: Teddy’s bellow.
Lighting：Light is coming from the side is an interior scene that appears to use artificial light.
III. EDITING
Time: From Photo by clear to blur to the shot of Teddy’s bellow, the time of the shot become shorter. The rhythm of the film become faster.
Editing style: Here is a combination of the short sequences and longer sequences. Use the flashbacks way to play to the audience and the rhythm become faster. The rhythm established is that of quick shots, just enough time to gather the information。The fast pace arouse people's attention and curiosity, make people nervous and excited.
Transition： This is an A-roll shot. Coming in and out, it is a straight cut.
IV . CINEMATOGRAPHY
Shot type: Combining with the close shoot and the middle close shoot, mostly is the close shoot, use the close shoot to shoot every detail such as blood, bullets and show the audience, Let the audience has immersive feel.
Camera angle: The camera is angled down in the part of photo, look at the photo from Lenny’s view make audience has immersive feel. The camera looking straight at the part of the photo back to the camera and it is down on the character when look at the death Teddy. Use this alternate shooting method for different focal points in different shoots easy arouse people's attention.Camera movement: In most of the shoot the camera is stationary. Only when Lenny put his camera back the camera circumgyrate on the tripod and move with the picture in Lenny’s hand. When Lenny went down there is a clear zoom-in and the camera move down with Lenny.
Depth of field: In close shot all of the features are focused on prospects. In middle close shot everything is clearly. The last shot is an over-the-shoulder shot.
Total composition: The features of every objects and some movement in middle close shot constitute the whole plot. People saw the results want to know what happened in last moment and what they saw are all time reversal occurred.
V. CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Character relationships: Lenny killed Teddy and as a photo. Lenny believe Teddy is the guy who killed Lenny’s wife.
Character movements: Lenny move in the scene, use the camera ,put the photo back to the camera, throw the gun and shoot to Teddy .
Deconstructed meaning: The opening is the end, and at the same time tells us the story telling in flashback way. The film itself is divided into two parts, and the two parts divided into several fragments appear overlapping, make audience chaos on the logic and extremely logic itself. The audience must focus on all parts to collect information and think back what happened last part, in this way they can generally know what the story about. The story itself is ordinary but after rearranged the film is interesting and cool.

In this scene Lenny get up from Natalie’s bed at night and cross the hall go to another room. he pick up his picture in his pocket and find a picture of Natalie and Jimmy. He write down a sentence at the back of Natalie’s photo”she has also lost someone, she will help you out of pity.” and back to bad.
II. DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS

Mise-en-scene: Lenny and Natalie in Natalie’s home. it is an interior stage.
Colours: because it is night so the color is dark but very clear and natural. This part is color too, so it is a part of flashbacks.Sound: The background music is non-diagetic.Music：The music here used is the same one in the beginning of film. Give us the same fell like the beginning.
Dialogue: Lenny tell himself:”she has also lost someone, she will help you out of pity.”
Lighting：Light is coming from the side is an interior scene that appears to use artificial light and make it looks like the light of moon.
III. EDITING
Time:The duration of the shot is long.
Editing style: The editing use many longer sequences , just tell us what happen .
Transition：This is an A-roll shot. Coming in and out, it is a straight cut.
IV. CINEMATOGRAPHY
Shot type: There are extra close shot, close shot , middle shot and long shot..Because they use three scene here: bed room , the hall and another room, so in difference scene the use difference shot type.
Camera angle: The camera angle down when they shot detail things and looking straight at the characters.
Camera movement: The camera followed the Lenny when he cross the hall by using a dolly.
V. CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Character relationships: Lenny killed Natalie ’s boy friend but he don’t remember and Natalie do not know that. They need help from each other.
